หลักการและการใช้ Countable Nouns
1. สามารถใช้จำนวนนับ ( 1,2,3,…) นำหน้าเพื่อนับจำนวนได้
- 3 cats, 5 apples, ten birds
2. สามารถใช้ a และ an นำหน้าได้
- a pen, a dog, a ruler
- an elephant, an orange, an ear, an egg
3. สามารถทำเป็นรูปพหูพจน์ได้
- dog = dogs, cat = cats
- pen = pens , egg = eggs
4. ใช้ How many + นามพหูพจน์ เพื่อถามจำนวน
- How many birds are there in the zoo?
- There are ten birds.
- How many sisters do you have?
- I have two sisters.
หลักการและการใช้ Uncountable Nouns
1. ไม่สามารถใช้จำนวนนับ ( 1,2,3,…) นำหน้าเพื่อนับจำนวนได้
- oil, soap, water
2. ไม่สามารถใช้ a และ an นำหน้าได้
- tea, coffee
3. ไม่สามารถทำเป็นรูปพหูพจน์ได้ เป็นได้เพียงรูปเอกพจน์เท่านั้น
- tea = teas coffee =coffees ผิดนะคะ
4. ใช้ How much+ นาม เพื่อถามปริมาณ
- How much sugar do you want?
- How much milk do you drink a day?
5. เป็นได้เฉพาะนามเอกพจน์ ใช้กริยาเอกพจน์
- Water is cool.
- Sugar is sweet.
